Blood on the Prairie: A Novel of the Sioux Uprising

At this time in southern Minnesota 153 years ago in 1862, the Dakota Conflict was nearing its end. The Dakota Conflict caused the largest number of civilian casualties in an Indian war in U. S. history, and resulted in the largest mass execution in U. S. history. It is recognized by historians as part of the American Civil War.

We honor all victims of the Dakota Conflict;
We forgive the crimes committed by our ancestors;
We support the reconciliation long sought by the Indian and white cultures.

The Dakota Indians had a slogan during the Dakota Conflict 2012 sesquicentennial memorial ride from South Dakota to Mankato: "Forgive Everybody Everything." I think they are on the right track, don't you?
