Summer 1862 Dakota Conflict

It is summer. The year is 1862. On the Sioux reservations in Minnesota, families have not received their reparations from the federal government. The starving Indians beg for food from the storehouses but are rebuffed until accounts had been paid in full. Andrew Myrick, a reservation trader, remarks that if the Inidans are so hungry, let them eat grass or their own dung. The tension increases.
