Blood on The Prairie A Novel of the Sioux Uprising Accepted at the Lincoln Presidential Library

The archivist at the Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield, Illinois accepted a paperback copy of Blood on the Prairie a Novel of the Sioux Uprising for placement in the research wing today. Because the American Civil War vastly overshadowed the Dakota Conflict of 1862, few historians realize that the president was greatly involved. He hand-wrote and signed the death warrant for the 38 Sioux who were hung at Mankato on December 26, 1862, and exchanged correspondence with General Henry Hastings Sibley concerning the hanging, which remains the largest mass execution in U.S. history. We are honored to have "Blood on the Prairie a Novel of the Sioux Uprising" included in such classy company.
