Timeline: Are you Ready for the Battle of Wood Lake?

The decisive battle of the Dakota Conflict was the fight between Little Crow and Colonel Henry Sibley's troops and volunteers at Lone Tree Lake, misidentified by scouts and recorders as Wood Lake which was several miles away. It occurred on September 23, just 9 days from today, in 1862. By this time General Pope is in command of the Northwest Territory and the Dakota Conflict, or Sioux Uprising as it was called, switches from an engagement between Little Crow and the state of Minnesota to an engagement with the federal government. The Indian war is now part of the American Civil War. Read about it in the format of your choice at the link below.
