Model of Gallows at Mankato MN Used to Hang 38 Indians December 26, 1862

This is a working scale model of the instrument of death used by the Union Army to hang 38 Sioux Indians at Mankato MN following the Dakota Conflict of 1862. The execution was the largest in U.S. history and took place on December 26, 1862 It is on display at the Blue Earth County Historical Society in Mankato MN.
2012 is the 150th anniversary of the Dakota Conflict of 1862.

Saturday December 15th at 1:00 p.m. the 1 hour documentary film "The Dakota Conflict" will be presented at the Antique warehouse, Ruth Street off North Riverfront Drive behind the Bobber Shop in Mankato MN. Open to the public at no charge.
