Timeline December 6 Dakota Conflict, Sioux Uprising

December 6, 1862 - President Lincoln issues an order allowing only 39 of the planned 300 executions to go forward. The execution of one additional condemned man is suspended later after new evidence casts doubt upon his guilt.

2012 is the 150th anniversary of the Dakota Conflict of 1862. We honor all victims of the Sioux Uprising, we forgive the crimes committed by our ancestors and we support the healing and reconciliation long-sought by the white and Indian cultures.
