Timeline for December 4 Dakota Conflict, Sioux Uprising

"December 4, 1862 - Several hundred civilians, armed with hatchets, clubs, and knives, attack the camp where the condemned Dakota are being held (in Mankato) but are surrounded and disarmed by soldiers."

2012 is the 150th anniversary of the Dakota Conflict of 1862. We honor all victims of the Sioux Uprising, we forgive the crimes committed by our ancestors, and we support efforts at reconciliation long-sought by the white and Indian cultures.
