Timeline, September 6, 1862 Dakota Conflict, Sioux Uprising

September 6, 1862 - Major General John Pope, having recently lost the Battle of Bull Run, is appointed commander of troops in the Northwest and charged with suppressing the Sioux Uprising. This is the point at which the Dakota Conflict became part of the American Civil War.
