Sioux Uprising, Blood on the Prairie Novel of Sioux Uprising, Dakota Conflict

August 23, 1862 - Nearly 650 Dakota warriors attack New Ulm Minnesota for the second time. Most buildings of the town are burned to the ground. 34 settlers are killed and 60 more wounded, but the town is successfully defended. Colonel Henry Sibley and his volunteer army along with the Sixth Minnesota are en route to St. Peter to set up a bivouac site.

The above event happened in Minnesota's history 150 years ago. We commemorate the sesquicentennial of the Great Sioux Uprising in 2012.
